A view of cart #2. Close up of batteries. I thought about this for some time. Cart #1 was a prototype concept build. It came out so well there was no engineering changes on subsequent builds. Which is good. Parts are interchangable. Costs are similiar. Only those items discontinued need be upgraded. Which the Heart inverter. Solar panels ar very standard in output. Some may be more square in dimensions and may actually fit better on the cart. The Arco's are long and thin, rectanular they are. Modern inverters are the opposite. The Heart is very square but new ones are rectangular, although about the same weight or less. One must use standard precations when working aroud electricity. The amps in batteries are dangerous.I wired up everything first and batteries last. never short anything. That is the panels the regulator or the batteries. One must observe polarity. Reverse polarity will damage or destroy the inverter, regulator, panel and or batteries.Connect black wires first then red or yellow. For the Morning Star regulator black and red are battery connections. black and yellow are PV panel connections. I used manual load disconnect switches to isolate the regulator and panel form battery and inverter. the inverter has an on off swithc but there cpacitors in side always charged as long as cables are attached to batteries. Dangerous current is possible to discharge. No user sevicable parts are inside the inverter. Never open it up. My procedure is to have load disconect switches off when discharging batteries through inverter. When ready to charge, i switch off inverter. Disconnect any devices or extension cords from cart/inverter. Roll outside to sunny area. Switch on #1 on regulator upright. Switch on load disconnect switch #2 under PV panel. Dont forget to prop up panel with declination staff. Align panel/cart to face sun, check evey 30 minutes to 1 hr to reposition cart/panel to face sun. When charge secession is ended, switch off #2 under panel then #1 on regulator upright. Remove declination staff and lie down panel, remove to storage area. Dont turn on inverter until ready to run devices. Make sure devices are off before plugging into inverter. Not so critical on small wattage devices but very imortant on large wattage. All inverters are in standby by default except large ones. The heart needs 15 watts to wake up.
