A close up of the DC/AC inverter. This is a Heart interface
model HF-600 12 volt DC 600 watt inverter. Ultra high efficiency, regulated
voltage and frequency output, capable of 1500 watt surges. Modified sine wave
output. In 1987 this was state of the art. There was nothing better available. I
paid $450 dollars for it back then. It worked out of the box in Dec 2007. For
many years it was in a self storage facilty where I know it was exposed to
temperature extremes of zero degrees F to 120 degrees F. Specs are 5 amps out
put. 120 volts (+/-5% true RMS), frequency regulation 0.5%@60Hz, no load power
drain 700 milliamps, low battery cutout 10 volts. It has circut breaker (the
white button with red 5 on it), electronic over load, thermal overload, high and
low battery cut out protections. Plus it came with 2 gauge battery wires with
heavy duty lugs on the end and color coded, has ground terminal on chassis case.
Heart was bought out by Xantrex. I'm using it right now as I write this, to
power lights and my boom box. Get a load of this...it was made in the state of
Washington,USA. i recently purchased a Samplex 600 watt pure sine wave inverter
for $250. It is described as light duty. but i need it to power NiCad battery
chargers and nickle metal hydride chargers. The chargers freak out if they dont
get pure sine wave. So cart #3 will be decated to special electronics. The
Hearts will run lights and power tools.
