SOLAR POWER IN ACTION! The cart was moved from the garage
door, which is my early morning facing east position to a spot about 12 feet
away facing south for noon time insolation. Notice how i tidied up the cables
from the panels with the split cable jacketting. As first light was December
2007, the sun at noon was low, about 20 degrees above the horizon. My Radio Crap
(custom manufactured in china) pocket digital multimeter sed the system was
outputting 13.5 volts to the battery. It is charging. although it looks very
sunny, there was some high cirrus and ocassional cumulus clouds filtering
insolation. However on particularly clear days, where the blue hurt your eyes,
the system was outputting 14.32 volts. On those days max temp at noon was 20
degrees F. The pv panel still got quite warm. I put my knuckles up to the back
of the panel and they dedected heat. Experts sy under such conditions the panels
are most efficient. Heat of the summer will acually reduce output. The little
white box on the disconnect switch upright is the regulator.
